We continue to deliver our vision through like-for-like growth and the acquisition of veterinary practices, diagnostic laboratories and pet crematoria. We focus on creating value through the provision of integrated services and the best customer care.
Our excellent customer service and care is provided by ensuring that we employ the best people and that we train them well throughout their careers. Our Practice Division employs 17 diploma holders and 10 Board eligible vets and our laboratories employ 31 clinical pathologists. We have taken on over 100 graduate vets in the last two years. Customer service is one of our core values and underpins all of our training and development. Clinical development is an essential aspect to help us provide excellent customer service but we also ensure that our management and operational abilities are developed through our Aspirational Leadership and LEAP programmes.
We aim to meet all of our customers’ needs so that we can ensure a consistent high quality of treatment. Our practices are increasingly providing their own night services (rather than it being provided by a third party) and we are rapidly developing our referral centres so that our own experts provide all our veterinary service to our customers animals. Our veterinary practices provide preventative healthcare either as and when required or through our preventative care scheme called Healthy Pet Club. We also have a number of own brand MiPet medicines and products. Our laboratories perform diagnostic testing and, when necessary, we have our own pet crematoria and cemeteries.
CVS provides a valuable service to other veterinary practices through MiVetClub, our buying group. The benefits that CVS gets from its scale and breadth of operations can be passed on to other veterinary practices. This can be when buying medicines (including our MiPet own brand products), using laboratories and pet crematoria.
CVS continues to grow through acquisitions. We already have excellent geographical coverage throughout much of the UK but there remain areas where we have few practices and some where we can improve our service further by increasing the density of our coverage. The majority of our veterinary practices are small animal first opinion businesses. We remain committed to developing our referrals business whether it is through acquisitions or greenfield sites. We also remain committed to growing our equine and large animal businesses through acquisition. We will seek to improve the geographic coverage of our Pet Crematoria and whilst our laboratory business is quite mature we will consider appropriate opportunities for acquisitions.
